Nemx SecurExchange for Exchange 2003 / 2000 -> FAQ
The following represent answers to questions commonly handled by our support staff, along with some tips
and tricks that past and current customers have found useful.
Please note:These answers follow a few shorthand conventions for describing user-interface
procedures. Key combinations will be presented as: Ctrl+Alt+Delete, which means that you should press and hold down the Control,
Alt and Delete keys at the same time. Menu selections will be presented as: File | Open, which means you should open the File
menu, and then make the Open selection.

- How do I configure Nemx SecurExchange for Exchange 2003 / 2000?
- During start up, the following error message is displayed: "Nemx SecurExchange
failed to create the required Exchange Profile (error = 0x80070421). The task will be terminated." What do I do?
- During start up, the following error message is displayed: "Nemx SecurExchange
failed to create the required Exchange Profile (error = 0x8004010f). The task will be terminated." What do I do?
- During start up, the following error message is displayed: "Nemx SecurExchange
failed to create the required Exchange Profile (error = 0x80040115). The task will be terminated." What do I do?
- During start up, the following error message is displayed: "Nemx SecurExchange
failed to create the required Exchange Profile (error = 0x81002746). The task will be terminated." What do I do?
- During start up, the following error message is displayed: "Could not
start the Nemx SecurExchange service on local computer. Error 1057: The account name is invalid or does not exist, or the
password is invalid for the account name specified." What do I do?
- During start up, the following error message is displayed: "Could not
start Nemx SecurExchange on Local Computer. Error 1058: Service could not be started either because it is disabled or because
it has no enabled devices associated with it." What do I do?
- During installation, the following error message is displayed:
"There was an error in creating the service (error = 800707421)."
What do I do?
- During installation, the following error message is displayed:
"There was an error in creating the Nemx SecurExchange user, User…" What do I do?
- Quarantine forms are not being sent to the mailbox specified in System Manager
| Nemx SecurExchange | Actions Tab | Modify Button | Quarantine. What do I do?
Navigate to Nemx SecurExchange:
- Navigate to Start | Programs | Microsoft Exchange | System Manager
- In the left hand window, navigate to <your exchange organization> | Administrative Groups | <your
exchange administrative group> | Servers | <your server with Nemx SecurExchange Installed>
- Double click on the Nemx SecurExchange object.

Check that the account and password fields are correct for the Nemx SecurExchange service:
- Navigate to Start | Settings | Control Panel | Administrative Tools | Services
- Double click on Nemx SecurExchange
- On the Logon tab, check that the Account and Password fields are entered correctly.

Get the Nemx SecurExchange service account:
- Navigate to Start | Settings | Control Panel | Administrative Tools | Services
- Double click on Nemx SecurExchange
- On the Logon tab, note entry in the field This Account:
Then check that the Nemx SecurExchange service account has the proper registry permissions:
- Start | Run | regedt32
- Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE | SYSTEM | CurrentControlSet | Services | Nemx SecurExchange
- In the left pane select the Nemx SecurExchange key
- Select from the menu Security | Permissions
- Ensure that the Nemx SecurExchange service account has full control over the key

Check that the registry entries are correct:
- Start | Run | Regedit
- Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE | SYSTEM | CurrentControlSet | Services | Nemx SecurExchange | Parameters
- Check the following keys:
SiteDN /o=<your exchange organization>/ou=<your administration group>
ExchangeName <your exchange organization>
Admin Group <your admin group>

Check that the Nemx SecurExchange Mailbox is present:
- Navigate to Start | Programs | Administrative Tools | Active Directory Users and Computers
- Navigate to Active Directory Users and Computers | <your domain> | Users
- Check that the mailbox nmxexspp_<your server> is present in the right hand window
Enable the Advanced features within Active Directory Users and Computers:
- Start | Programs | Administrative Tools | Active Directory Users and Computers
- In the console tree, click the <your domain> node. On the View menu, click Advanced Features
Check that the Nemx SecurExchange Mailbox is not hidden:
- Navigate to Active Directory Users and Computers | <your domain> | Users
- Double click on the user nmxexspp_<your server name>
- Click on the Exchange Advanced tab
- Disable Exchange address lists
- Click Ok
Check that the system has the appropriate rights to the Account:
- Double click on the user nmxexspp_<your server name>
- On the Security tab, Select the SYSTEM from the Name window
- In the Permissions window, access must be given to the entries Read, Write, Receive As, and Send As
Get the "Display Name" field of the Nemx SecurExchange Exchange user:
- Double click on the user NMXEXSPP_<your server name>
- On the General Tab, note the Display Name field (e.g. Nemx SecurExchange_<your server name>)
Check that the registry entries are correct:
- Start | Run | Regedit
- Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE | SYSTEM | CurrentControlSet | Services | Nemx SecurExchange | Parameters
- Check the following key: ProfileUser <Display Name>

Check that the account password for the Nemx SecurExchange service is correct:
- Navigate to Start | Settings | Control Panel | Administrative | Services
- Double click on Nemx SecurExchange
- On the Logon tab, ensure that you specify the service account as <domain>/<account>
- Ensure that the password is correct

Check that Nemx SecurExchange has not been disabled:
- Click Start, point to Programs, point to Administrative Tools, then click Services
- Double click on Nemx SecurExchange.
- On Logon tab, verify that the service has not been disabled. If it has, click Enable.

During the installation, ensure that you specify the service account as <domain>/<account>
and that the password is correct:
- Double click on the Nemx SecurExchange install program
- On the Welcome dialog box, click Ok
- On the Software License Agreement dialog box, click Accept
- On the Select Destination Directory dialog box, click Next
- On the Exchange Server Location dialog box, click Next
- Ensure the account is specified as
<your domain>/<your account>
- Ensure that the account password is correct.

Stop Nemx SecurExchange Service:
- Navigate to Start | Settings | Control Panel | Administrative Tools | Services
- Double click on Nemx SecurExchange
- On the General tab, click Stop
Build the Nemx SecurExchange Mailbox:
- Navigate to Start | Programs | Administrative Tools | Active Directory User and Computers
- Navigate to <your domain> |
users
- Right click in Active Directory Users and Computers and select New | User
- In the Full Name field type NMXEXSPP_<your server name>
- In the User Logon field type NMXEXSPP_<your server name>
- Click Next
- In the password field type <your choice>
- Click Next
- Click OK
Modify the Nemx SecurExchange Mailbox:
- Double click on new user NMXEXSPP_<your server name>
- On the General tab, change the Display name field NMXEXSPP_<your server name> to Nemx SecurExchange_<your
server name>
- On the General tab, add the Email address as per the Account tab | user logon name field (e.g. NMXEXSPP_SERVER1@abc.com)
Check
that the system has the appropriate rights to the Account:
- Double click on the new user NMXEXSPP_<your server name>
- On the Security Tab, select from the Name window the account SYSTEM
- Under Permissions, access must be given to the entries Read, Write, Receive As, and Send As
Check that the System
has the proper Mailbox Rights for the account nmxexspp_<your server>:
- Double click on the new user NMXEXSPP_<your server name>
- On the Exchange Advanced tab, click the Mailbox Rights
- Select the SYSTEM from the Name window
- Check that Full Mailbox rights have been given
Start Nemx SecurExchange Service:
- Navigate to Start | Settings | Control Panel | Administrative Tools | Services
- Double click on Nemx SecurExchange
- On the General tab, click Start

Stop Nemx SecurExchange Service:
- Navigate to Start | Settings | Control Panel | Administrative Tools | Services
- Double click on Nemx SecurExchange
- On the General tab, click Stop
Get the DefaultAddress:
- Start | run | regedit
- Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE | System | CurrentControlSet | Services | Nemx SecurExchange | Parameters
- Note the entry at DefaultFromUser. If there is no DefaultFromUser, skip to step 12.
Check that the Nemx SecurExchange Service account has access to send on behalf:
- Navigate to Active Directory Users and Computers | <your domain> | Users
- Double click on the <DefaultFromUser>
mailbox
- On the Exchange General Tab, click Add
