and all other recipients can be notified, via separate email
messages that the original message contains an infected
attachment thereby prevent a proliferation of the virus
to unprotected users.

Nemx Messenger
What is the
Nemx Messenger series of products?
The Messenger
series of products for Exchange (a.k.a. Windows Messaging
and Outlook) and MS Mail provides individuals with mail
and news services commonly found within the Internet or
corporate network through the familiar graphical interface
of Microsoft's Mail clients (Exchange and MSMail). All user
interaction to these network facilities are performed within
the mail client in the same fashion that local mail is processed.
In other words sending and receiving mail or news to the
network is identical to sending and receiving a message
locally. No special encoding of recipient names is required
and all received mail is properly tagged for easy replying.
Attachments may be added for mail forwarded to the network
and any attachments received from the network are contained
within the body of the received message as an icon.
Office Messenger
The Office mode
is a cost effective Internet Email connectivity solution
for Exchange (aka Inbox, Windows Messaging, and Outlook)
and Microsoft Mail based networks. Combined with the standard
Workgroups Postoffice (which comes free with Windows, Win95
and Windows NT) or the full blown Mail Server, Nemx's Office
Messenger provides your internal mail users with a seamless
Internet Email solution. Find out how you can put Nemx's
Office Messenger
to work for you.

Run the executable to start
the installation process
Once the installation is
finished, you have the option of running the configuration
wizard. This is recommended for easy setup.
Using the Configuration Wizard
You first have the choice
of either Office or Personal Mode. Both installations are
basically identical.
Office Mode
Select TCP/IP
Connection
Choose your type
of connection whether it be a Dedicated Line,
Dial up, or ISDN
If you choose Dedicated
Line then
Go to the domain
{anchor*}
section below
If you choose Dial-Up
Connection
Choosing Dial-up
Networking will ask you how your dial up connection
will be made. If you are using either Dial-up
Networking from Windows 95 or Remote Access
in Windows NT, then select that option; otherwise
select the third party dialer.
The following
screen allows you to tell the server how often
to log on and check for new mail as well as
an option to send mail as soon as it is sent
from the sender as opposed to waiting until
the server logs on to send it.
If you choose
the ISDN Router Option
This option
allows you to tell the server how often
to log on and check for new mail as well
as an option to send mail as soon as it
is sent from the sender as opposed to waiting
until the server logs on to send it.
* Domains
The main domain
name is used to determine whether incoming mail
is coming to the correct address as well as
for determining the correct reply address for
any mail going to the Internet.
The alternate
domain names are used for other domains from
which you wish to accept mail. For example if
you also have personal accounts set up at other
Internet Service Providers, then putting their
domain name here will accept mail with that
domain name and then forward it to the appropriate
friendly name.
Select Mail Retrieval
Methods
Choose SMTP if
you have a Dedicated Connection, as this will
allow mail to flow into the Internet Server
at any time
Choose POP if
you want the mail to remain at the Internet
Service Provider until the Internet Server makes
a connection and starts the download process.
Internet Host
Names
You need a SMTP
server to forward the mail to the Internet.
Enter the host name or its IP address into the
box.
You need a NNTP
server to post and read news articles. Enter
a host name or its IP address in the box.
***Create Gateway

in the Friendly Name Box below. This name
can be prefixed by Inet:xxx@abc.com, Folder:foldername,
Shared:sharedfoldername
MS Mail user
based on mail header – This inspects the
mail header for intended recipients by comparing
the mail address to the available friendly
names in the User Aliases section of the
Office Options.
Press OK
when all active fields are filled. You can
then verify all the names to make sure they
work by pressing the Verify button
The Delete Button

Local Name Associations
The Local Name
Association window appears after restarting
your computer. The first thing to do is to hit
the Add Name button to add a user. You can direct
messages to Local Mail, Shared Folder, or a
Personal Folder. You enter the User’s Name into
the box (e.g. John Q. Smith)
Afterwards, you
can add an Association for example (jqsmith.)
You can add many different associations to the
name.
Once you have
added all the users and their associations,
push the verify button to make sure all entries
can be resolved.
Once the verification
process is complete and all entries are resolved,
you then push the OK button.
Dialer Options
This gives you
the choice of what sort of Dialer you wish to
use. You were able to select this in the installation
process, however this option in the Config Menu,
allows you to change this afterwards.
You can choose
to use the following
Winsock dialer
if in WfW, Win95, WinNT
Dialup Networking
(DUN) in Win95
Remote Access
(RAS) in WinNT
The pull down
menu gets its Names from the dialup networking
section in Win 95 or remote access section in
WinNT
To do this, double
click on the My Computer Icon and then open
the Dial-Up Networking folder. Then double click
the Make New Connection Icon and follow the
instructions.
Idle Condition:
This tells the server what to do if the connection
is idle for a specified period.
Sessions: This
allows all the mail and news sessions to be
compiled concurrently instead of being completed
one after the other.
The Schedule
button allows you to specify when the mail and
news will be retrieved during the day. It uses
a twenty four-hour clock to do this. You can
add, delete, and edit the access times for weekdays
as well as weekends.
This should complete the
installation process for Office Mode.
Personal Mode
The Personal Mode
installation is the same as the office mode installation
except that you won’t be able to retrieve mail using
SMTP and that you can only direct mail to a local
MS Mail Mailbox.
** NOTE: To create the profile
complete the following steps.
- Open up the Control
Panel
- Select Mail and Fax
- Click on the Show
Profiles button
- Click on the Add
button
- Choose the appropriate
Mail Post Office Server and deselect the others
- Enter the profile
name "inetgw" without the quotation marks.
- Click on Finish and
the profile should be created.
- In the pull down
menu below the profile listings, select inetgw as the
profile to start Microsoft Windows Messaging.
- Then close the Mail
and Fax.
Installation of
Client Support:
Once this has been completed,
you must distribute the client support from the Server.
This is done by using the
Config | Distribute Client Support Menu option. This will
send a message to the clients which will then enable them
to send mail across the internet. Once the mail arrives
at the client, they must run the executable in the message.
This is done by clicking on the icon in the message. This
will install the client side of the application. It will
try to close down all mail applications. However, if it
can't you should do it manually. You should also close down
Microsoft Word 97 as it automatically logs on to the mail
system. If it still can not complete its task, you can do
a Ctrl-Alt-Delete and kill all tasks which are using the
mail applications. The program should then be able to proceed
with its installation. If for some reason, it can not, then
you can do the following Manual Installation.
Manual Installation
of Client Support
MS Mail Windows
users:
Copy INETSPL.EXE, INETMSM.DLL,
INETMSN.DLL, INETRMT.EXE, and INETMSR.DLL to the Windows
directory of the client machine or to a shared directory
which everyone has access. Once copied, each user must run
INETSPL.EXE once to perform the initial configuration of
the Internet Spooler.
MS Mail NT users:
Copy INTSPL32.EXE, INTMSM32.DLL,
and INTMSN32.DLL to the WinNT/System32 directory of the
client machine or to a shared directory which everyone has
access to. Once copied, each user must run INTSPL32.EXE
once to perform the initial configuration of the Internet
Spooler.
Exchange Win95/NT
users:
Copy NASXPL32.DLL, NASXPL.INF,
and MERGEINI.EXE to the Windows\System (Win95), WinNT\System32
(NT 4.0) directory of the client machine or to a shared
directory which everyone has access to. Once copied, each
user must run MERGEINI NASXPL.INF -m -q once (locally or
from a networked drive) to perform the initial configuration
of the Exchange System. After this step, an Exchange profile
can be modified to include the "netApp Systems Internet
Series" service. Exchange Profile management is performed
in the "Mail and Fax"(Win 95) or "Mail"(WinNT/95) Control
Panel applet.

an error when installing Nemx Messenger Client
- Can't

- Getting
an error message saying "MAPI Spooler has exited unexpectedly"
- Sending
mail messages to Personal Groups under MS Mail
1. Incoming mail has Inet Gateway
as name instead of the name of the actual originator.
Why does "Inet gateway" show
up on the from: line instead of the name of the originator.
What do I need to do to install the spooler on a machine
running Exchange or to check that it has been installed?
You need your email administrator
to send you the client configuration utility. Once you receive
this in your inbox folder, open the message, double-click
on the INETCINS.EXE icon. This can not be forwarded from
another user, it has to come from the server.

2. Getting an error when
installing Nemx Messenger Client
The Status Window is displaying:
There are still mail
applications active
Manually close all
mail applications and
Select Yes to continue
waiting, or No to cancel the installation
Depending on which services
that you are running in the exchange client, it may take
more than thirty seconds to close down. Try hitting the
"Yes" button to continue. The mail spooler is most likely
still running. Office 97’s version of Word, automatically
logs in to the mail system, so this application might also
cause this problem. You can close down applications manually
by hitting Ctrl-Alt-Delete in both Win95 and WinNT and in
WinNT choosing the Task Manager, followed by the Processes
Tab. If MAPISP32.EXE is still running, then terminate applications
running until it is no longer there. If after terminating
all applications except the install, MAPISP32.EXE is still
running, you should do a manual
install .

3. Can't locate configuration
message when running the client installer.
Did you send the configuration
message from the server, or did you either forward it or
copy it from another user. The configuration message has
to be sent to the individual users from the server.

4. Errors when opening
Exchange/Outlook/Windows Messaging
You are getting the following
error:
3.0 Inet; Checkout for Remote;
Mode 6; Inetmsr.dll.
This also appears each time
a menu item is selected.
This problem is easily fixable
by deleting the msmail.ini file which is in your windows
directory.
Back
to Top
5. Getting an error message
saying "MAPI Spooler has exited unexpectedly"
This error message is caused
by a badly formatted message arriving at the client.
This causes Exchange Clients to crash. If you are
getting this error, then you will need to upgrade you current
version of our software to at least version 3.0.13.
Once you have this or a later version of our software installed,
you should redistribute the client message to the client
receiving the error message. In the case that you
are having problems with the Automatic installation, you
can either do the manual
client installation
or copy the new version of the NASXPL32.DLL file from the
Inet\Spooler directory to either the Windows\System directory
(if using Windows 95) or the WinNT\System32 directory (if
using NT 4.)

6. Sending mail messages
to Personal Groups under MS Mail
When sending a piece
of mail to a Personal Group using MS Mail, there will
be a slight problem. The mail message will be
returned as MS Mail can't recognize the Internet addresses.
Hitting resend on the returned message should send out
the message normally however.

2. On starting and running
the Server program, get the following messages in the Status
Window.
POP Server Connection
failed (listen failure)
Winsock Communication
failure, error = 91
The error 91 is failure to
connect with the dialup networking component within 6 attempts.
If you are continually getting
this error, then try manually starting the dialup access
to see if you can connect without any user intervention.
If you are getting prompts, then this will be the reason
for the error.
SMTP Gateway Interface
(inbound) failed listen Failure
Winsock Communication
failure, error = -10048
The 10048 error is due to
another application listening to port 25, the SMTP port.
This could be another application or ourselves from a previous
session that abnormally terminated. If you are not using
the SMTP channel, you can disable this via the services
dialog, which is accessible from the Config | Office mode
dialog
POP Server (inbound)
failed listen Failure
Winsock Communication
Failure, error=-10048
This 10048 error is due to
another application listening to port 110, the POP port
used in the remote option. Again, this is probably due to
some other application listening to the same port or ourselves
if we abnormally terminated the last time. You can disable
this in the Config | Office Mode | Services dialog box.

here:
- There is no exchange
profile defined for our gateway.. To do this open up
the control panel | Mail and Fax, and then push the
Show profiles button. If the InetGW profile does not
show then Add a new profile with that name. To add a
new profile in MSMail or Exchange Server, do the following:

- Give the profile
the name InetGW. Then hit the Next button.
- Give the path name

from the list available, if your name is not there,
get your administrator to add yours. Then hit the
Next button.
- Type in your password.
Then hit the Next button.
- Select your personal

from mailbox.pab to something unique like Inetgw.pab.
Then hit the Next button.
- Select your personal

Exchange to the Startup group." Then hit the Next
button.
- You are now done,
then hit the Finish button
- There is a problem
with the InetGW login. First, go into the Control Panel
| Mail and Fax | Show profiles and set the default profile
to Inetgw. Then try logging into exchange using the
InetGW profile. You should be able to get in with no
prompts. If you do have prompts, you will have to update/modify
the profile to correct the errors.
- The password in the
Config | Office Mode of the Internet Server may be incorrect.

4. Mail System (MAPIX)
Logon failed (rc = 80040605), will retry in 1 minute
This is a major problem.
This error occurs because the Mail API can not be initialized.
If you are getting this error, delete the profiles in the
Control Panel | Mail or Mail & Fax | Show Profiles icon.
Then uninstall Microsoft Exchange. Reinstall it and add
the profiles back in.
5. Windows 95 locks up
after hanging up the modem
There is a known intermittent
problem with Microsoft's Win95 where Win95 hangs while disconnecting
from an ISP when using the Dial-up Networking.
There are 2 possible workarounds,
provided that you don’t also use your PC on a LAN using
Netbios over TCP/IP.
Preferred:
1) In Control Panel, Network
TCP/IP, Properties, WINS Config
- disable WINS Resolution.
If the above does not help
try:
2) Rename file C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\VNBT.386
to something else e.g. OLD_VNBT.386)
You should restart Win95
after applying either change to make sure it takes effect.
Back

6. Messages are getting
stuck in the Outbox of Exchange
There are two possibilities:
either Inet GW is not defined or it is ambiguous (defined
more than once.)
The way to check which it
is; is to do the following:
- create a new piece
of mail, sending it to the Inet GW user. (Type in the
name on the TO: line.)
- hit the check names
button.
If it is unresolved, you
have to go and create the Inet GW user in the post office
address book.
If it is ambiguous, check
all the address books for multiple entries of the Inet GW
user. If you find multiple entries, you should delete the
entries out of all the address books except the main post
office list.
Back
to Top
7. MAPI spooler not found
When exchange starts up,
you get an error dialog coming up stating "MAPI spooler
not found."
The problem here is that
MSMail was install at one time on this machine, but remnants
are still around, causing the Nemx Spooler to look for it.
This is a registry problem.
It can be resolved by running the regedit program supplied
with Windows 95 and Windows NT.
Get into the registry
... HKEY_CURRENT_USER and then into the following directory:
/software/microsoft/msmail Deleting this entire key
will remove MSMail from the configuration correcting
the problem.

8. Undeliverable Mail,
no local users. Messages are being delivered to the administrator.
The problem here is that
the addresses in the message do not contain either the main
domain name or any of the alternates. This usually occurs
when somebody is subscribed to a mailing list.
The first thing to check
is that your domains and any alternate domains are spelt
correctly.
If this is not the case,
then the solution to this problem is to add a couple of
lines into the TCPMDLW.INI file which is in your main windows
directory.
The mailing list is a slight
problem since it comes in and is to be delivered to many
people who are not at the site. This problem can be overcome
by changing the TCPMDLW.INI file.If you are getting undeliverable
mail no local users, then This is how you would alter it:
- First off, look in
the TO: or CC: or FROM: field for the person that it
is supposed to be going to.
- In the INI file,
add a mailing list section like the following:
[Mailing Lists]
mailing list identifier = list of MS Mail friendly names
separated by semicolons.
An example is the following
header.
Received: from PEACH.EASE.LSOFT.COM
by PEACH.EASE.LSOFT.COM (LISTSERV-TCP/IP release 1.8c)
with spool id 36136165 for MAPI-L@PEACH.EASE.LSOFT.COM;
Thu, 1 May 1997 16:45:22 -0400
Received: from abc.com
([207.30.181.35]) by gcsnt.abc.com (1.0.242) for
mapi-l@peach.ease.lsoft.com;
1 May 1997 16:41:03 +0100
MIME-Version: 1.0
Message-ID: <nV875db6.rsp-0e6f40a4@abc.com>
Date: Thu, 1 May 1997
16:41:03 +0100
Reply-To: MAPI Developers
Forum <MAPI-L@PEACH.EASE.LSOFT.COM >
To: MAPI Developers Forum
<MAPI-L@PEACH.EASE.LSOFT.COM >
The Mail List Identifier
is in this case can be either the Internet name, MAPI-L@PEACH.EASE.LSOFT.COM,
the Friendly Name MAPI Developers Forum, or both as seen
in the To: field above. Therefore, the code in the TCPMDLW.INI
file would look like this.
[Mailing Lists]
MAPI Developers Forum <MAPI-L@PEACH.EASE.LSOFT.COM
> = jsmith; fjones; etc...
or
MAPI Developers Forum = jsmith;
fjones; etc...
or
MAPI-L@PEACH.EASE.LSOFT.COM
= jsmith;fjones; etc...

9. Return Address for
a particular user is incorrect.
This is caused by the friendly
name in the user aliases being different from the name in
the post office. This can be corrected by making sure that
the two names in the post office list and the User Aliases
match exactly. If they don't, we guess at the email address
by combining the first name in the user aliases and the
domain name.
If you want a different return
address for a specific user than what we normally generate,
you can do this by adding the following to the TCPMDLW.INI
file which is in the main Windows directory.
[Return Addresses]
user1=user@newaddress.net
user2=xxxx@abc.net
...
If you have multiple post
offices and you wish to have a different domain name based
on the post office, this can be done by adding the following
to the TCPMDLW.INI file which is in the main Windows directory
[MS Post Offices]
Nemx/Corporat=xxx.net
Nemx/Develop=yyy.net
This is of the form Network/Post
Office Name = Domain Name

10. Unresolved/Ambiguous
name in the Status Window
In the status window, it
will also tell you if the error is in the user aliases or
in the POP account definitions. To correct this problem,
you would go to the Config | Office Mode, and then to either
the User Aliases or POP account dialog box.
Hit the Verify button once
this is done to determine if the names are Unresolved or
Ambiguous.
1) Unresolved: you would
correct the spelling there.
2) Ambiguous: This error
occurs when there are multiple names which resolve to different
addresses. To correct this error, you would make the names
unique.

11. The Dialup Networking does not
see all my dial up connections.
This is due to a limitation
with Dialup Networking. For some reason, it won't let us
see any connections greater than 20 characters. The solution
to this is simply to shorten the name of the connection.

12. Losing connection
to post office when connecting with Win95 DUN
If your post office is on
a Netware server, when DUN is launched, there is a dialogue
box that pops up stating the the Netware connection will
be temporarily disabled while modem dials; This is ok since
the DUN is successful. However, automatic dialup to retrieve
email (unattended) is required; user does not want to click
ok everytime dialogue box comes up.
Go into the ServerTypes tab
in the DUN connection and uncheck the Logon to Network option.
Also, uncheck the NetBEUI and IPX/SPX options in the same
dialog.
Back

13. Command Excution before, during,
and after dialup
The Internet Server can be
configured to launch command strings at various points in
its operation,
namely start-up, termination, connecting to the Winsock,
idle detection, and SMTP ready to accept
mail. The facility is primarily intended to setup and disconnect
dial connections, however it is not
limited to only those functions.
To configure a command, edit the TCPMDLW.INI file found
in your windows directory and add any of
the following lines to the [Server] section.
ConnectCmd = command string
IdleCmd = command string
StartCmd = command string
StopCmd = command string
SMTPINCmd = command string
For example:
ConnectCmd = RASDIAL myconnection
IdleCmd = RASDIAL myconnection /disconnect
SMTPINCmd = finger user provider.com
This would invoke NT's RAS
dialup facility to connect to your service provider when
the Internet Server
is about to go on-line and would then instruct RAS to break
the connection once the Internet Server
has detected it is idle.
This example is for illustration purposes only. To use RAS,
the Dialer Setup dialog would be the
method to activate RAS.

14. Unable to process Inbox Message
(Invalid Gateway Request)
This error is someone sending
mail directly to the Inet GW user or caused by corruption
of the header of the message. There are a couple of things
that can be done.
- There is a problem
with the connection to the post office. As such the mail
being sent to the local users is being returned to Inet
GW. Send a regular message to a local user and await the
response back from your "System Administrator." Inspect
the message and determine the cause of the error.
- Log into MS Mail using
the Inet GW user or into Exchange using the Inet GW profile.
Check the Inbox for messages. If you find messages in
here, then move them all to another folder, and bring
them back into the Inbox one by one until the offending
message has been found. It will usually be the first one
in the list. Either delete the offending message, or forward
it back to the sender saying that you had problems with
the header of the message
- Go into the Config |
Office Mode dialog. What is the name of the local administrator?
If it is Inet GW, then change this to another user who
can forward all the mail to other users manually.

15. User messages are being deleted
on the Server where Messenger is running
If you are using Exchange (which
is now standard with NT/95), then the Exchange profiles
are probably sharing the same post office and address books.
- Go into the Control
Panel, then hit either the Mail or Mail and Fax Icon
- Hit the show profiles
button. Select the Inet GW profile (if this is one of
the mailboxes with the problem, otherwise choose the one
with the problem), and hit the properties button
- Select Personal Folders
and hit the Properties Button. Make sure that the file
name in the Path edit box is unique. Then Hit the OK Button
- Select Personal Address
Book and hit the Properties Button. Make sure that the
file name in the Path edit box is unique. Then Hit the
OK Button

16. Unable to send mail to local
user (rc = 13) Message left in inbox
This error is caused by an
attachment which is too big or has been lost.
- Check the amount of
Hard Drive space available on both the post office machine
and the local user machine
- Make sure that the temporary
directory in the Config | Message options menu is a valid
directory.

17. System Administrator Message
left in Inbox
This error is caused by a
message which is in the Inbox due to the fact that it couldn't
be sent to the Post Office because it was either busy or
in use.
To solve this problem
- Close Nemx Messenger
- Start either the MS
Mail or Exchange Client and log into the InetGW mailbox/profile
- Open any messages from
the System Administrator and hit the resend button.

18. Unable to send Internet Mail,
while receiving is Okay
If you are using Exchange/Outlook/Windows
Messaging which is standard with NT/95 then
Make sure that the InetGW
profile is ponting to the Inet GW user.
Go into the Control Panel | Mail/Mail and Fax | Show Profiles.
Select the correct profile, and hit properties. Select either
Microsoft Mail or Exchange Server and hit the properties.
Select the Logon Tab and make sure that the correct Inet
GW user is there along with the passowrd.

19. TM_Serve using huge amounts
of CPU time
This is again caused by a
bad message.
With Messenger down, open
MS Mail/Exchange using the Inet GW User or InetGW profile
and move all the messages from the Inbox to another folder.
Restart TM_Serve and see if the same is happening with the
CPU time. If not, move the messages back into the Inbox
one by one until you discover which message is corrupt.
Either delete this message or forward it to the receiver.

20. "Runtime error 202 at xxxx:xxxx"
This error is most often
caused by the Trumpet Dialer. It is a known problem with
the dialer that this error can be produced.
The way to get around it is to remove all tracing with the
Trumpet program. This should solve the problem.

21. MAPIX logon failure (rc=80040154)
This error seems to occur
on certain installations of Inbox and Windows Messaging.
The error is actually class no registered.
Reinstalling these doesn't seem to work, however installing
Outlook 97 does solve this problem.

Nemx Messenger - General Errors
- Messages are being received by other Internet users,
but truncated.
- Attachments
received as 1.att.
- Getting
multiple mail messages delivered to each user.
- Long
delay when sending mail
- Getting
an error as follows "Error with POP Account definition
..."
General Errors
1. Mail messages are being
received by other Internet users, but the text is truncated
Truncation is a combination
of the way we send the mail and the particular email client
receiving the mail. We can handle this in one of three ways
but again this depends on the receiving client.
One big line per paragraph.
This allows for line wrapping based on the window size
of the receiving client.(default)
Send out text as MIME.
Config | Message Options … Send text as MIME
Set a hard right margin.
Edit TCPMDLW.INI in your main windows directory and
add the following line to the [Message Format] section.
RightMargin=xx ,
where xx is the maximum number of characters on
a line.
2. Attachments received
as 1.att.
Any attachments received
as 1.att are text messages which exceed the 32K limit of
MS Mail. This can be set smaller by altering the TCPMDLW.INI
file with attachtextsize=24000 for example. This quite
often occurs when receiving attached files which were uuencoded
for transmission. We send these messages as plain
text if the headers aren't properly formatted, and if they
are bigger than the 32KB or specified size, then we send
these messages as 1.att for example. We shall hopefully
be supporting these long file names etc. soon.
3. Getting multiple mail
messages delivered to each user.
When receiving messages addressed
for more than one person in the same domain, the message
appears as many times as there are addresses in the users
Mailbox.
This is due to the fact that
your ISP has multiple messages in its queue, as each address
was handled separately by the ISP's SMTP gateway.
4. Long delay when sending
mail
This error is easily fixable.
It is usually related to the "Check for new Mail" setting
on the mail client. Lower the time to one minute or so,
and mail should leave faster.

5. Getting an error as follows "Error

This error most often comes
from having both Personal mode and Office mode enabled.
The best solution to this is to disable Personal Mode.
Nemx Messenger - Error Logs
These are incredibly useful
when it comes to debugging problems with Nemx Messenger.
The most valuable one is the TCP/IP log. This tool is mainly
used by the Tech Support people and Programmers at Nemx.
If you have a problem, the best way to go about resolving
it is to log the error, and then send the file to us. This
is how you would go about creating the log files.
There are two ways of starting
the error logs. The first is the easiest.
- If you are already
in the Internet Server, Pull down the Monitors Menu, and
choose the Monitor that you wish to view. This will pop
up the Monitor that you selected in the window. You can
then choose from the same menu to either log to file,
or dump to file. Log to file continually records everything
that goes on about the Monitor; whereas dump to file copies
whatever is in the Monitor into a file. These settings
are not permanent, a restart of Nemx Messenger will disable
logging.
- To Permanently log,
in the TCPMDLW.INI file, you should create a section called
Monitors if not already there. This is done by adding
the following to the file.
[Monitors]
tcpip=on,append
DDE=on,overwrite
capi=on
Append: This adds to
the end of the existing log file
Overwrite: This starts
a new log file
The Error and Status logs
can also be logged in the same fashion. They are however
started automatically when the Internet Server is turned
on. The are however, not logged. You can make them logged
however, by either the first way above or by the second
using the following commands under the Monitors section.
Status=on,append
Error=on,overwrite
The filenames that the logs
are contained in are called:
- tcpip.log
- error.log
- status.log
These will be found in the
main Inet directory.

7. USENET Access (optional)
Internet Personal can
connect to a USENET server (NNTP server) and download
news articles from various news groups. Once downloaded
they will be placed in a MS Mail folder of the same
name as the news group. If the folder doesn't exist,
it will be created when the first news article is received.
Folders may be moved around once created. In addition,
news can be posted to the USENET system.
To define the news groups

MS Mail user will be used as the return address (from
address) for any outgoing mail.
For example:
- John Smith
- jsmith
- john
- Jane Doe
- jane
Any incoming mail for
jsmith@domainName or john@domainName will be forwarded
to MS Mail user John Smith. Any outgoing mail from John
Smith will have a network address of jsmith@domainName.
Note:
Changes are dynamic and

MS Mail names may be
a distribution list. In this case any mail received
from the network alias will be forwarded to all members
of the distribution list. Distribution lists are defined
while in MS Mail.
8. POP Server
Access (optional)
Internet Series for Microsoft
Mail can connect to one or more POP servers and pull
down the mail, distributing it to specified users. When
accessing a remote POP server, the Internet Series for
Microsoft Mail can forward the POP mailbox to a single
MS Mail user (one to one association) or can scan the
headers of each mail message with the POP mailbox to
determine the local MS Mail recipients (POP redirection).
POP redirection mode
uses the associations defined in step 7 above to determine
which local user(s) receive the mail. Any mail which
has no corresponding MS Mail recipient will be forwarded
to the admin. user if defined in step 6 above.
To define POP accounts,
