SecurExchange IMF Edition

With the introduction of Microsoft's Exchange Intelligent Message Filter (IMF) in May 2004, the need for a new kind of anti-spam solution emerged. While Exchange IMF provides server-side message filtering and heuristics-based message analysis, IT administrators demand increased functionality to allow them to better control both their organization's security and user's unique requirements. This increased flexibility provided by Nemx SecurExchange will benefit companies of all sizes, especially those that rely solely on native Exchange protection such as the IMF.

SecurExchange IMF Edition extends the Microsoft IMF by:

  • Automatically or manually allow business partner's messages to bypass Exchange's IMF through SecurExchange's Domain capability, minimizing false positives generated by the IMF
  • White list inbound email via email address, domain, country domain (ie .Dk or .CH) , or IP address
  • Allowing any number of thresholds to be defined with different actions for each threshold range.
    • For instance, a SCL rating of 4-6 can be assigned "Quarantine", while a SCL rating of 7-9 could be assigned "Delete"
  • Providing additional actions available to a triggered message.  Additional actions like "reroute", "move to any sub folder", "copy to user", "send a message", and others may be assigned. Moving a message to any subfolder does not require Outlook 2003.
  • Allowing different thresholds and corresponding actions amongst different user groups.
    • For instance in a school environment, the "staff" group may have messages quarantined for a particular SCL range, while the "students" group would have those messages deleted.
  • Create Safe Sender's lists to prevent Exchange's IMF from archiving or deleting messages on the SMTP gateway / front end server that exceed the gateway 's IMF threshold.

SecurExchange's IMF Extensions are also bundled at no charge with SecurExchange Corporate or Perimeter Editions. When used with the Corporate or Perimeter editions, you gain the additional functionality to:

  • Augmenting SCLs for a message using SecurExchange's other components like SURBL, header analysis, content, analysis and many other means.
  • White list messages by subject, body, header, originator, or addressee eliminating IMF false positives.
  • Categorize messages based on the concept(s) found within the message using SecurExchange's Concept Manager component.
